Chocolate Recall Alert Allergy Risk Could Be Life-Threatening, Officials Warn

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States of America, a common type of chocolate has been recalled across the country because there is a “risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.”

According to an announcement that was published on the website of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday, June 20, Lipari Foods, which is based in Michigan, is recalling its 14-ounce packages of JLM Branded “Dark Chocolate Nonpareils” because they may contain “undeclared milk.”

According to the announcement, individuals who suffer from milk allergies expose themselves to the possibility of experiencing a severe or even life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Additionally, the FDA reports that the Dark Chocolate Nonpareils were distributed across the country and are packaged in clear plastic tubs that are 14 ounces in capacity.

On the label of the tubs in question, one of the following lot numbers will be printed: 28202501A, 29202501A, 23202504A, 14202505A, 15202505A, or 03202506A as the lot number.

As far as the Food and Drug Administration is aware, there have been no reports of illnesses associated with the recall.

In addition, the organization stated that the recall was carried out after the Weaver Nut Company, which is based in Pennsylvania and is responsible for the distribution and production of candy and nuts, informed Lipari Foods of the error.

Customers who have purchased the 14-ounce packages are being urged by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to return them to the location where they were purchased “for a full refund.”

The recent months have seen a number of chocolate recalls issued across the country, and this is not the first time that this has occurred.

Cal Yee Farms issued a recall of some of its chocolate products in December 2024 due to the possibility that they contained “undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds.” It was discovered that these chocolate products contained these ingredients.

Following the discovery that the products may also contain milk that has not been declared, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) increased the level of risk associated with the recall earlier this year, in January.
