CHP officer hands out 34 tickets in single stop of 2 speeding Porsches in Santa Cruz

The California Highway Patrol is certainly keeping active lately, as an officer pulled over two speeding Porsches, resulting in a total of 34 tickets issued to the drivers. It may seem like a lot, but the agency was incredibly proud of its officer’s actions, sharing photos on its social media platforms.

Officials report that two Porsche 911s were racing through a construction area in Santa Cruz County. The speed of the vehicles remains unclear, as it seems the CHP deemed that information unimportant to share. However, it could provide insight into how two drivers accumulated 34 citations during one traffic stop.

Upon closer inspection of the stack of tickets, it becomes evident that the uppermost one indicates that at least one of the Porsches was travelling at 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. That’s not illegal in California. To classify speeding as a felony, the driver must exceed 100 mph or double the posted speed limit.

However, the CHP officer discovered numerous additional infractions to penalise both Porsche drivers.

A few days earlier, CHP caught five Corvettes speeding simultaneously on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County. One of the vehicles was reportedly exceeding the speed limit, travelling at over 65 mph in a 55 mph area. The law enforcement agency expressed great pride in this impressive multi-vehicle stop.

Attention to those in or passing through Santa Cruz County: be cautious as law enforcement is actively monitoring Highway 1 and is ready to issue tickets.
