PELHAMWith a daring and innovative vision for the city’s future, Christine Chris Townes has formally declared her intention to run for Pelham City Council, Place 3. Townes is running on a platform of unity, progress, and purposeful leadership. She is a longstanding resident, a devout mother of five, including two US Marines, and a deeply religious woman.
“I think it’s time to move Pelham into its next great chapter as someone who has lived, served, and raised a family in this community,” Townes said. One that is characterized by opportunity, vision, and a revitalized sense of pride in everything our community can achieve.
Townes’ leadership is based on compassion and expertise, and he has a history of civic and community involvement. Her involvement in the community consists of:
Contributing to the construction of houses and hope as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer
Serving in a variety of civic capacities with state representatives
Participating in the Alabama Department of Corrections’ ministry outreach program at Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women
Townes intends to give priority to:
Reviving Pelham’s main corridor and updating its infrastructure
luring big companies to boost the local economy and generate employment
Improving parks and green areas, such as Pelham’s baseball fields, to make them a top play area
Leadership that works in tandem with the mayor, city manager, and other council members
Encouragement of an optimistic outlook: Why not in Pelham?
I have no problem posing challenging queries or promoting original concepts. According to Townes, “I believe in smart growth that honors our values and builds for the future. I lead with integrity, grounded in faith.” Pelham ought to be the front-runner rather than a backup plan.
Townes is urging the community to work with her to build a better future for Pelham because she has a strong desire to serve others and a compassionate heart.
