City on a Hill is an action crime drama series that was launched on Showtime on June 16, 2019. The series is conceived by Charlie MacLean, adapted from a tale by Hollywood A-list actor and director Ben Afflect and MacLean. The series features Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman, and Jill Hennessy.
Speaking to Parade, Kevin Bacon, 64, who plays John “Jackie” Rohr, a former FBI agent, was asked if it was fun to play his character ‘Jackie’ who is so “morally compromised”.
The actor responded: “When you first become an actor, you start to judge your roles based on the number of words you have. After a while, you know that’s not really it. I did quite a few things in a row where I was trying to challenge myself with little dialogue. With Jackie, here’s a voice that I heard right away. People think that because a character’s a bad guy, it’s more fun. I don’t believe that. What makes it fun is complexity, showing up and doing something that I haven’t done. It’s all about walking in someone else’s shoes.”
Surely, fans love seeing him on “City on a Hill” and they’re anxiously awaiting the fourth installment. In the meantime, season 3 is currently airing and the finale is scheduled to air on September 18, 2022.
So the recently launched season (season 3) leads to numerous loose ends leaving openings then perhaps the story will continue in the next chapter. Sometimes ending a season on a cliffhanger gives fans some hope that the show might return for a fourth season. Here’s what we know about Season 4 of City on a Hill.
Will There Be a Season 4 of City on a Hill?
As of August 2022, the series has not been renewed yet for a fourth season, and since there has been no clear sign of cancellation, it’s most likely that the program will be back for more.
Nevertheless, the third just premiered this July and has released only one episode so far and we predict that it’ll probably take at least a month or two for the showmakers to announce the renewal status of the potential fourth season.
City on a Hill Season 4 Release Date: When is it premiering?
Following the success of the first season, the series was renewed for a second season on August 2, 2019, which was released on March 28, 2021. After almost three months, the series was greenlit for a third season on June 2, 2021, which arrived a little over a year later on July 31, 2022.
So as of now, the series has yet to renew season 4. Hypothetically speaking, the fourth season gets renewed in the coming weeks and production begins by this year itself. So the air date will fall somewhere in early to mid-2023 at the earliest.
The Cast of City on a Hill Season 4
The official cast line is not revealed because the series is awaiting its confirmation for a fourth run but we have mentioned all the characters that are expected to reprise their roles if season 4 is commissioned. The following names of the characters include:
Kevin Bacon will return as Jackie Rohr, FBI agent
Aldis Hodge in the role of Decourcy Ward, Assistant District Attorney
Jill Hennessy will play the role of Jenny Rohr
Lauren E. Banks will be seen playing as Siobhan Quays
Matthew Del Negro will be back as Chris Caysen.
Similarly, we also witnessed new characters in the third season who are Corbin Bernsen, Joanne Kelly, and Ernie Hudson. It’s uncertain if these characters will be back in season 4 but viewers better brace themselves for more new faces in the potential fourth season as well although nothing is confirmed at this point.
City on a Hill Season 4 Storyline: Expectations
The storyline of the potential fourth season is yet to be decided but we hope that it comes with plenty of surprises and twists.
Season 3 of City on a hill is ongoing and has so far launched Episode 1 and since we don’t want to spoil too much about what happened in the first episode, you can read the official premise of season 3 below:
“Season three of City on a Hill brings us to Boston’s high society, Beacon Hill. Having left the FBI and thrown his badge into Boston Harbor, Jackie Rohr lands a lavish new gig running security for a wealthy family. Life is good until secrets begin to unravel. When an investigation opens, ADA Decourcy Ward sees an opportunity to finally rip out the machinery perpetuating a broken criminal justice system. Siobhan Quays, representing a construction worker who was severely injured on the Big Dig, encounters the city’s corruption first-hand, all while coping with the traumatic events of her past year. As Jenny Rohr can attest, given her history with her father, some experiences will haunt you beyond your breaking point.”
It looks like fans will have to wait for season three to conclude first and then only will we get some update on what’s coming next.
