Costco is planning to establish a new gas station that is located on its own. For the purpose of making place for the fuel pumps that will only be accessible to Costco members, the city of Mission Viejo, California, has given its approval to the plans to pull down a Bed, Bath and Beyond store that was previously established.
There will be only forty pumps available at the station, and there will be no shopping space available at the convenience store. In close proximity to Interstate 5, it will be situated at the Mission Viejo Freeway Center, which can be found at 25732 El Paseo.
According to GasBuddy, the price of a gallon of gasoline in the state of California is now at its lowest point of $3.03, with an average price of $4.61.
Based on the information provided by its app, Costco’s neighboring Laguna Nigel warehouse is now offering normal unleaded gasoline at a price of $4.35 per gallon.
The freestanding facility in Mission Viejo is about 2.5 miles distant from the Laguna Nigel location, which is located immediately adjacent to it.
Costco increased the hours that gas stations were open earlier this year. Ron Vachris, the CEO of Costco, stated on the firm’s earnings call for the third quarter that the company experienced “two of our all-time highest gallon weeks” in the United States during the month of April.
Price reductions at the pump, new gas station openings, and extended hours of operation at gas stations.

The new gas station hours were revealed by Costco in a post that was published on Facebook in the middle of February.
The post stated that the hours would be as follows: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. However, the post also mentioned that the hours could be different for the states of California and Hawaii.
These two “all-time highest gallon weeks” were reported by Costco after the company’s Chief Financial Officer Gary Millerchip had previously informed analysts and investors in the beginning of March that the warehouse retailer had been “pleased so far with the member reaction” to the longer hours and that it was “seeing an improvement in overall usage of the gas stations.”
