Costco Revives Fan-Favorite Combo Pizza in Calzone Form, Receives Mixed Reviews

A popular food court item from Costco is returning. The wholesale club in Washington recently declared that the combo pizza will be returning. The food offering is a little different this time, though.

The “Combo Calzone” costs $6.99 and has pepperoni, sausage, cheese, peppers, onions, olives, and mushrooms within.

The newest menu item, however, has not captured the attention of everyone.

Reddit users of Costco primarily expressed contempt for the calzone mixture.

“Those toppings sound familiar … It’s the combo pizza!” a Reddit member wrote.

“We kept asking for it and it looks like they folded.”

After trying it at a store in Lansing, Michigan, another Reddit member said it was “all right.”

“It’s kind of like a big slice folded on itself, so it has a ‘crust’ … I felt like it was a little overcooked but maybe it was just my location. I don’t think it’d be something I would get very often, but I don’t regret trying it. I think the regular pizza is better.”

“Seems like Costco will do anything but bring back the combo pizza,” commented yet another Reddit member.

Others remarked on how unappetizing the new calzone’s promotional images are.

“It even looks overcooked in the photo,” one user said.

“Sans picture, the idea of a ‘Costco Calzone’ is wildly appealing to me, but nothing about that photo makes me want to try it,” another person said. “Does it even have cheese!?”

“Those pictures are objectively unappetizing,” another user stated.

But not everyone was enjoying the calzone. “Had one today, it was delicious!” one person commented.

In January, Costco declared that later this year, Coca-Cola fountain drinks would take the place of Pepsi goods.

The well-liked churro was dropped in the first part of 2024. The new calzone doesn’t appear to be available at every Costco location yet.
