Cough Syrup Recalled Over Safety Concerns, Prompts National Warning

The Little Remedies brand of Honey Cough Syrup is being recalled by Medtech Products Inc. due to concerns regarding the stability of the product’s shelf life as well as fears that the product may be contaminated with the Bacillus cereus bacterium.

There have been a number of product recalls initiated in the year 2025 due to the possibility of damaged products, foodborne illness, contamination, and food allergens that have not been fully disclosed.

Every year, millions of people in the United States of America suffer from food allergies or sensitivities. Eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and peanuts are those that are considered to be the nine “major” food allergens in the United States, as stated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In addition, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that individuals who consume products that contain Bacillus cereus may experience nausea, vomiting, or stomach cramps between one and six hours after consumption or between eight and sixteen hours before consumption.

“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term illness, exposure to high levels of foodborne B. cereus can cause death,” the alert specifically states.

According to the warning issued by the FDA, the product that is being recalled was sold to retailers across the country and distributed online between the dates of December 14, 2022 and June 4, 2025.

As a point of reference for customers, the alert includes a chart that displays UPC numbers along with the lot numbers and expiration dates that correspond to those numbers.

Amber bottles with a capacity of four fluid ounces were used to package the product that was recalled. These bottles were accompanied by an outer carton. There are also images of the cough syrup that has been recalled included in the FDA alert.

In addition, the agency has stated that all lots of the Little Remedies Honey Cough 4-fluid ounce bottles that are “still within expiry are being included in the scope of the recall.” The recall does not include any other Little Remedies products.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as of Wednesday, there have been no “serious adverse events” associated with the recall.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), customers who have purchased the cough syrup that has been recalled are advised to stop using the product and seek the advice of a medical professional if they experience any adverse reactions.
