After a motorist crashed into the structure, a patient at an assisted living facility in Tennessee who was 96 years old passed away during the accident. It was stated in the court documents that the suspect had “suicidal and homicidal tendencies.”
At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, police from the Knoxville Police Department responded to the assisted living facility known as Shannondale of Knoxville, according to Knoxville Police Department Officer Scott Erland.
The investigation revealed that a patient named Walter D. Humphrey, who was 96 years old, had been struck by a minivan that had crashed into the institution. At the scene, he was cited as having passed away.
Eleasah Williams, who is 24 years old, has been charged with vehicular homicide with recklessness. The driver has been identified by the police as who committed the crime.
Records from the court indicate that Williams had a history of “suicidal and homicidal” behaviour prior to the collision.
There are allegations that she “wanted to kill herself and other people” as she rushed away from an apartment complex at approximately 5:04 in the morning.
According to the court documents, the authorities received a call a few minutes later informing them that Williams’ van had collided with the side of the assisted living home and then come to a stop within the building.
According to Erland, early information indicates that the van travelled at a high rate of speed down Woodview Lane and across all four lanes of Middlebrook Pike, before colliding with the building when it also ran over the curb.
