Recently, MERS, Missouri Goodwill Industries, experienced a data breach that affected many people in the United States.

In this context, it is alleged that MERS Goodwill failed to provide sufficient data protection.
In this case, MERS Goodwill consented to a settlement. Any wrongdoing was denied by them. The class action lawsuit has reached a settlement of $500,000.
People who live in the US and whose personal data was compromised during this time frame are eligible to file a claim. This also pertains to the people who were notified by MERS Goodwill about the incident.
Claims process and settlement breakdown
The deadline for submitting claims is July 7, 2025. Claims can be filled out and mailed to the settlement administrator, or they can be submitted online.
A PIN and Notice ID are needed for online claims. Police records, evidence of fabricated tax returns, etc., or any other paperwork that provides unambiguous proof of the incidence of fraud related to identity theft can be added as documentary proof for extraordinary loss claims.
Additionally, evidence of the steps taken to try to recoup the losses must be presented. You can attach invoices, receipts, proof of expenses, or bank or credit card records for regular losses.

You can pay with a cheque, PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or a virtual prepaid card. The following can serve as the basis for claims:
- $100 for lost time, or $25 per hour for a maximum of four hours.
- Two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring.
- For individuals who have not claimed extraordinary losses, regular losses, or missed time, an alternative cash reward of $50 is offered.
- Up to $5,000 in extraordinary losses were reported.
- Ordinary losses for out-of-pocket costs up to $500 per claimant were reported.
There should be as much information as feasible in every claim. The deadline for filing objections and exclusions is June 6, 2025.
The final approval hearing has been set for July 10, 2025, and the claims deadline of July 7, 2025, is drawing near.
Payment of accepted claims should be anticipated around ninety days following the courts’ final approval.
