Deadly collision in Orlando left two dead and one hurt - FHP

The Florida Highway Patrol said that a two-vehicle collision on Colonial Drive in Orlando on Monday morning claimed the lives of two people.

On Colonial Drive near Hiawassee Road, there was a double-fatal collision.

An FHP crash report states that a 53-year-old Orlando man tried to turn left to enter a parking lot when a 2015 Jeep Compass was heading west in a left turn-lane. The FHP reported that the car went straight into the path of a 2013 Nissan Maxima that was approaching from the east in the outside lane.

According to troopers, the Jeep’s driver was transferred to a hospital and later declared deceased.

According to the FHP, a 51-year-old Orlando lady who was a passenger in the Jeep was declared dead at the site.

According to troopers, the driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old man from Ocoee, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the collision, Colonial Drive was closed in both directions.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
