The plot of Downton Abbey: A New Era: When is it premiering?
For the forthcoming sequel, “we’re trying to mark the change,” director/creator Julian Fellowes revealed. “It’s really a new era. The further the 20s went along, the more the world was changing in so many ways.”
He further continued: “As we know from the last film, Mary may not be the titular head of the household, but she is effectively running the show. We take that further.”
And if you haven’t watched the trailer, Downton Abbey: A New Era trailer disclosed a slew of important plot points. Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) says in a hilarious scene, “Years ago before you were born, I met a man…” Her son Robert (Hugh Bonneville) is appropriately taken aback by this discovery.
She then reveals that the unknown man has gifted her with a French villa! Lady Mary exclaims, “What?!?” (Michelle Dockery).
So we understand the Crawleys will be leaving for a new journey in France. And they surely appear to be having a good time.
