Driver fleeing traffic stop strikes tree and police cruiser in wild Oklahoma chase; facing charges

On April 3, 2025, the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) began a pursuit when a vehicle attempted to avoid a traffic stop.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the GRDA officer saw that the vehicle did not have a license plate and sought to stop the driver.

Everett Myers was driving the vehicle when it fled the scene near Chouteau on US 412.

An OHP trooper recognised Myers and his truck and sought to approach him.

Myers got into his car and attempted to flee by driving backwards.

While going in reverse, Myers collided with a tree before colliding with the troopers patrol unit.

Multiple OHP units launched a pursuit, leading to Myers driving southbound on 177th E. Ave.

A tactical vehicle intervention was effectively completed, and Myers’ car was disabled.

Myers was driving a vehicle that had been stolen from an auto dealership earlier that day.

He also told police he had used methamphetamine that day and was under the influence of alcohol.

Myers fits the description of a man wanted in connection with two other auto burglaries in Tulsa.

He was detained and charged with felony evading, aggravated assault and violence on a police officer, driving under the influence, and illegal entry into a company.
