Driver flips car after crashing into unmarked police vehicle near Philadelphia city hall

A driver flipped their car in the shadow of City Hall after colliding with an unmarked police car on Tuesday morning, causing minor injuries to the officer, according to Philadelphia police.

The collision occurred on North Broad Street in front of the Masonic Temple at 8:45 a.m. on April 8, 2025, when the driver of a grey 2023 Toyota Camry rear-ended an unmarked Black Chevy Malibu that was legally parked, according to Philadelphia police.

“The force of the impact caused the Camry to flip over,” police said in a brief statement.

The cop in Malibu was sent to a local hospital for minor injuries and is expected to be released, according to authorities.

The 34-year-old lady driving the Camry was uninjured, according to authorities.

Following the crash, investigators were spotted encircling the upturned car.

The cause of the crash was still being investigated Tuesday, and no charges were immediately filed.
