A voucher program for electric bicycles will soon be reopened in the state of California, and residents who are eligible will be able to receive up to $2,000 toward the purchase of an electric bicycle.
The initiative, which is sponsored by the state, is intended to assist Californians with lower and middle incomes in replacing car journeys, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing the costs associated with commuting.
An qualified electric bicycle and any accessories that go along with it can be purchased with incentive funds, which can then be applied as a discount at the time of purchase.
Among the items that are included are a helmet, a bike lock, racks and baskets, fenders, mirrors, reflective clothing, and lights (if they are not already installed), as well as any fees associated with assembly and delivery, and any sales tax that may be applicable.
Accessories must be acquired at the same time as the incentive certificate is being used for the electric bicycle in order to qualify.
It is not possible to utilize the voucher for accessories in a separate transaction, and the amount of item that can be purchased for each type of accessory is restricted to one.
In order to be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a driver’s license, AB 60 license, or state identification card that is current and legal in the state of California.
Further, participants are required to meet certain income restrictions, with the maximum income that can be earned by a household being 300% of the federal poverty threshold.
For instance, a household consisting of a single individual must not make more than $45,180 per year, whereas a family consisting of four must not earn more than $93,600 per year.
