In Russia’s eyes, if Ukraine were to join the European Union and not NATO, it would be considered the same consequences. Moscow had said that if Ukraine were to apply for NATO membership, that Russia would see severe consequence. A Russian representative said in an interview that the EU and NATO are not dissimilar.
The German Foreign Minister wants Ukraine to become a full member of the European Union, however there will be no shortcuts for membership. Germany says it will reduce its imports of Russian energy to zero and that this will stay the same for all time.

In order to combat the threat of global food shortage, the EU has proposed a plan to use solidarity lanes. The European Union will integrate Ukrainian and EU infrastructure, mobilizing 20 million metric tons of grain in the war-torn country. Thousands of trucks that are currently stuck on the border with Ukraine will be allowed passage through “solidarity lanes.” In order to help ensure more capacity for temporarily storing Ukrainian exports, the European Union has urged national authorities to apply flexibility.
