Fatal Crash in Miami-Dade Leaves 14-year-old Teen Dead, 23-Year-Old Driver Facing Charges

On Thursday, a guy who is 23 years old and is suspected of driving under the influence caused a collision that resulted in the death of a young kid appeared in court in Miami-Dade County.

According to the deputies, surveillance footage shows Bryan Baez and Yansay Delgado, who is 14 years old, leaving an apartment complex in the Naranja neighbourhood barely two minutes before the collision that occurred on April 12.

Baez, who is also known by the name Bryan Arturo Baez Martinez, was operating a grey 2006 Ford Escape that did not have a Florida tag shortly after 9:30 p.m., and Yansay was the passenger in the front seat, as stated by the deputies conducting the investigation.

According to the deputies, Baez was travelling at an excessive rate of speed when the grey Ford Escape slid more than 220 feet, collided with a railing, flipped onto its roof, and came to a halt on Naranja Lakes Boulevard during the accident.

According to the deputies, the force of the crash caused Yansay, who was not wearing a seatbelt, to be ejected through the front window.

His head then impacted the guardrail, and fire rescue workers pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.

The deputies who responded to the scene noticed that Baez had red bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and “a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage,” as stated in the arrest report that the officers filed in the case.

A constable stated in the arrest record that Baez drove “while intoxicated and at a recklessly high rate of speed at night.” Baez was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the records, Baez, who was born in Cuba and lived in Naranja, was taken into custody by deputies on Wednesday at approximately 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

Baez was lodged into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre at approximately 7:40 o’clock in the evening.

At the time of his arrest, Baez was subject to a hold by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
