FedEx laying off hundreds in Fort Worth as contract shifts to new provider

FedEx, a major player in shipping and logistics, is set to reduce its workforce by more than 300 employees at a location in Fort Worth, as revealed in state filings.

A recent report reveals that a WARN notice submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission shows that 305 employees, which accounts for 52%, of the 580 employees at FedEx’s facility located at 13500 Independence Parkway are set to be laid off.

Employees affected will face layoffs occurring between July 6 and October 25, with written notifications provided at least 60 days prior to their last day of work, according to the announcement.

The job cuts stem from a decision made by a FedEx client to relocate part of its operations to a different site overseen by a new logistics partner. According to the announcement, FedEx anticipates that the cessation of its support for this business will be completed by October 25 and will be lasting.
