Florida deputy stunned to find 12-year-old behind wheel in highway race with another teen in Volusia county

According to sheriff’s officials, a 12-year-old and a 17-year-old were cited this week for racing one another in Volusia County.

A deputy stopped two cars on Dahlia Road and West Parkway on Tuesday, according to body camera footage released by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

“What was that racing b*****t?” the deputy is heard asking the first driver, a 17-year-old boy driving a Toyota Corolla.

The video then shows the deputy go to a second automobile that a 12-year-old was driving and forcing the youngster to exit while handcuffing him.

There were more kids inside the car.

The footage indicates that parents, including the teen’s parent, arrived at the site.

“Well he was racing a 12-year-old who was driving the Nissan, so he’s getting arrested today,” the deputy says.

“Who’s getting arrested?” the parent asks.

“Both the drivers,” the deputy says.

The parent is then informed by the deputy that the two cars were racing toward his marked car on the road.

“I know man, but damn. My son’s starting college this year,” the parent says.

“Then he needs to get his head out of his a**,” the deputy replies.

The two drivers and two 16-year-olds were cited for racing on a roadway, according to Volusia sheriff’s authorities.

In addition, the 12-year-old received a citation for lacking a driver’s license.
