Due to her alleged attack on a 72-year-old man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat earlier this week, a Florida woman is facing numerous charges.
According to Pinellas County Jail records, Laura Garrett, 33, was taken into custody by the Largo Police Department on Tuesday for battery on an individual over 65, battery on a police officer, and obstructing or resisting an officer without using force.
According to an arrest affidavit, Garrett acknowledged that she approached the man, who has not been publicly identified, at Northeast Park and Paw Place to inquire about President Donald Trump and the reasons behind his support.
At one point during the confrontation, the two got into a fight.

According to the arrest report, Garrett hit the victim on the back of his head and shoulder area with a can she was holding after pouring it over his head.
According to reports, Garrett denied that she struck him with the can. After the man was attacked, she allegedly walked away and jumped a fence, according to the police.

She allegedly fought with police officers who were trying to arrest her before they found her.
Garrett purposefully fell to the ground when officers placed her in handcuffs, according to the arrest report, and she threw both of her legs around him, causing him to fall, when an officer attempted to escort her to the front of the park.
The second battery charge resulted from the officer’s knee being bruised during the incident. According to the police, she kept kicking and dragging herself away from the arresting officers.
According to jail records, Garrett was released on Wednesday night after being booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Tuesday night.
