Former Alabama All-American in the running for the NFL ESPY Award

Next week, cornerback Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos might add another honor to his 2024 NFL season. One of the candidates for the ESPY Award for greatest NFL player is the former Alabama All-American.

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens are the other nominees.

Fans have one week left to cast their online votes for 20 different prizes, including the best NFL player.

ABC will broadcast the ESPY Awards at 7 p.m. CDT on July 16.

The 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, which were presented by the Pro Football Writers of America and The Associated Press, went to Surtain. Surtain was selected to the first team of the 2024 season all-star teams by the NFL Players Association, AP, and PFWA in addition to being selected to his third Pro Bowl.

After being selected ninth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Surtain earned those honors for the fourth season after joining the Broncos from the Crimson Tide. Surtain has won the SEC Defensive Player of the Year Award and been unanimously selected as an All-American for Alabama’s unbeaten CFP national championship team for the 2020 campaign.
