Kyle Snyder, a three-time NCAA wrestling champion and a gold medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games, was one of the sixteen individuals who were apprehended during an anti-prostitution operation that took place on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.
Snyder, who is 29 years old, is accused of calling and texting an undercover cop, whom he found at a local hotel and who then arrested him for soliciting sexual activity.
According to the Columbus police department, Snyder sent and received text messages on Friday at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), and he arrived at the planned site twenty minutes later.
According to the information provided by Columbus Police Sergeant Joe Albert, Snyder allegedly asked for oral sex and provided the undercover cop with cash.
Officers in uniform entered the room and placed him under arrest for indulging in prostitution.
Following the collection of Snyder’s information, the officers who had arrested him eventually released him from the scene. There is a hearing for his arraignment scheduled for the 19th of May.
Caitlyn McIntosh, a spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, stated that the team known as Police and Community Together was the one responsible for conducting the prostitution investigation.

In order to “solicit others to engage in sexual activity for hire,” the unit posted advertisements on the internet, according to McIntosh.
Snyder was a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes wrestling team from 2016 until 2018, during which time he competed as a heavyweight and earned three national wrestling titles.
The team also won a national championship in 2015, he was selected as the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA championships in 2016, and he was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024. All of these accomplishments were accomplished with his assistance.

At the Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Snyder competed in the 97 kilogrammes weight class and won the gold medal. He also won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and finished fourth at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
On top of that, Snyder is the youngest American male wrestler to ever win both the Olympic and global championships. He has won the world championship three times. When Snyder won the gold medal in 2016, he was only 20 years old.
He only recently signed a contract with the Real American Freestyle wrestling league, and he has been working out with the Penn State University wrestling club in preparation for international competitions.
