This morning, showers with possibly associated thunderstorms will primarily occur north of M-59. We will spend the majority of the daylight hours dry and above-average. Warm and windy, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Southerly wind gusts of 30-40 mph are forecast in the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Centre has downgraded Southeast Michigan’s severe thunderstorm risk to a minor risk for tonight. Showers and thunderstorms are most likely to occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., when a slow-moving cold front passes through. We can’t rule out a strong storm with damaging winds or hail, although they’re less likely to reach severe levels. Showers are expected to end by Saturday morning as the front moves on.
A persistent shower is possible early Saturday, particularly before dawn. Otherwise, we have dry weather with highs in the 60s. We stay dry for the Easter Sunday morning services. As another warm front approaches, we may see a few rain showers develop Sunday afternoon, with a higher probability of widespread rain on Monday. Sunday’s high temperatures will be in the 50s.
Temperatures are expected to remain above average until the end of the month, according to the long-term forecast. Expect 60s and 70s to return early next week.
