Georgia Man Commits Triple Murder-suicide by Shooting and Killing His Wife, Pregnant Girlfriend, and Himself

In Georgia, a man killed himself, his wife, and his pregnant girlfriend last week, leaving three people and one unborn child dead.

Kevin Andrew Akins, 37, visited his estranged wife’s residence on Murray Avenue in Dalton, a tiny community about 30 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee, early on May 21.

According to a Dalton Police Department press statement, he shot and killed 35-year-old Rebeca Nicole Akins there.

According to surveillance footage, the attacker left at around six in the morning.

However, it would take more than two days for coworkers to discover the woman’s body after they contacted police to conduct a welfare check after noticing she had not called in or shown up for work.

“After being unable to get anyone to come to the door, officers were let into the residence by apartment staff and discovered the woman’s body with an apparent gunshot wound to the head,” police stated in the press release. “Detectives were immediately notified and an investigation started.”

She “was tragically taken away from us by the man she had loved for over half of her life,” according to the younger sister of the first victim, who posted a GoFundMe.

Kevin Akins then proceeded to another apartment on Shadow Lane, which is about 4 miles across town, according to investigators.

The killer’s lover, Cindel Mae Rhoden, 33, lived in the second flat. The GoFundMe stated that the mother of two daughters was five months along in her pregnancy with a boy.

According to law authorities, Kevin Akins killed Rhoden inside before turning the gun on himself.

A somewhat delayed order of official permits made the discovery even more gloomy. On May 24, a man entered Rhoden’s residence with a key while police awaited a search warrant.

That man turned out to be Rhoden’s father. He hurried out of the apartment and dialed 911 to report that he had found his daughter and another man shot dead.

“Cindel was more than just a victim of this tragedy she was kind, full of life, and a devoted mom doing her best for her girls,” according to the second fundraiser. “Her daughters are now in the care of family, but they need help. We are raising funds to provide for their basic needs, funeral expenses, and a more stable future as they navigate this unthinkable loss.”

The family of the first victim used everyday occurrences to illustrate a more mundane yet grave element of their predicament.

“Due to being with that man for 20 years, all of her financials were tied up in his,” according to Nicole Akins’ sister. “She was on his life insurance policy, and given the nature of their deaths we are unsure what that means for it being able to pay for her funeral. We want to give her a service that she deserved, celebrating her kindness, her happiness, and her unwavering love.”
