Following an automobile accident in Franklin, Massachusetts on Saturday night, a girl died and two of her family members suffered significant injuries. The driver of the other vehicle is being charged with drunk driving.
A automobile and a pickup truck crashed on Grove Street just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The girl was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away, according to Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
Her father, who was driving, received treatment at the hospital and was later released, while her mother and brother are still in the hospital with severe injuries.
The ages and identities of the victims have not been made public. The pickup truck’s driver, James Blanchard, a 21-year-old Franklin resident, was taken into custody.
Three counts of OUI, motor vehicle homicide while driving carelessly and under the influence of alcohol, and operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol are among the charges against him.
He will be arraigned in Wrentham District Court on Tuesday and is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
A hit-and-run on Cape Cod later Saturday night claimed a life.

According to police, shortly after 11:30 p.m., a 25-year-old Florida male was discovered laying in the road on Ocean View Drive in Wellfleet. The man’s identity is still unknown.
Police are urging folks to keep an eye out for what is thought to be an SUV or pickup truck that has likely front-end damage.
