Good Samaritan killed while Helping at Crash Scene in Mayes County; Deer collision Reported

A 36-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a deer-related incident early Monday on a rural Mayes County road, authorities said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Cody Pryor died at the scene of the accident. A 17-year-old was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital for treatment, while a 35-year-old woman sustained minor injuries, according to troopers.

The incident started around 6 a.m. on South 430 Road, just south of West 500 Road, when a motorist hit a deer. The man called his parents for assistance, and they arrived on the scene shortly thereafter.

While the family was analyzing the issue, another southbound vehicle collided with the disabled automobile, pinning Pryor, who had arrived to help. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver who hit the deer was airlifted to a hospital with injuries. The mother was brought in an ambulance. Both were injured, but their condition has not been disclosed.

The driver of the second vehicle, an 81-year-old male, remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities stated that the driver was not gravely harmed.
