The city of PELLAfter an incident in Pell City, a guy from Harpersville has been taken into custody and charged with several counts of attempted murder, assault, and gun discharge.
Harpersville resident Ethan Crawford, 29, was taken into custody and placed into the St. Clair County Jail on Thursday, June 26 on three charges of attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault, and three charges of firing a firearm into an occupied structure. A $300,000 bond was set.
At 9:17 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, the Pell City Police Department received a complaint from a Sonic Drive-In on U.S. Highway 231 regarding a road-rage shooting that was taking place about 0.5 miles from the eatery.
A suspect in a different vehicle that subsequently fled the area along Hwy 231 southbound fired multiple shots at the vehicle, wounding the driver of the vehicle in the leg when officers arrived on the scene.
Additionally, it was discovered that the shooting victim’s 5-year-old son, who was seated in a car seat in the back of the vehicle at the time of the occurrence, was almost hit by the bullets.
Law enforcement was able to identify Crawford as the alleged shooter who fled the area after the PCPD conducted an investigation.
Crawford was booked into the St. Clair County Jail at around 6:16 p.m. the next day after police executed an arrest warrant against him.
