High-Speed Crash on US 68 Leaves 55-Year-Old Man Dead in Marion County

According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), a man was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Marion County on Saturday morning, and another man is being charged with a crime relating to an earlier, unrelated event.

Around ten in the morning, a tragic collision happened at the junction of the Lebanon Bypass and US Highway 68. Troopers promptly started an on-scene investigation after receiving reports of an injury accident.

Justin Baron, 26, was traveling west on US 68 in a Dodge Ram when he tried to turn right onto the Lebanon Bypass.

Baron entered the bend, lost control of the car, and crashed with a GMC Sierra while driving at a fast speed, according to officials.

According to reports, the GMC Sierra was stopped at a red light at the crossroads on the Lebanon Bypass, facing south.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office declared Loretto resident William Norris, 55, the driver of that car, dead at the scene. There were no occupants in either car when the collision occurred, according to the authorities.

Baron was taken to a local hospital for a medical checkup after sustaining what police described as minor injuries. He was brought into custody on charges related to an incident that happened before to the crash after receiving treatment and being released.

Details of that previous occurrence have not yet been made public by officials.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to the Kentucky State Police, and more charges directly tied to the deadly crash are still pending. It is anticipated that toxicology investigations, speed analyses, and other forensic assessments will help provide a more thorough understanding of the crash’s circumstances.

In addition to causing the Loretto community to grieve for Norris, the tragic episode has sparked speculation about what transpired before the fatal confrontation.
