A driver was nabbed overnight after a police pursuit near Hope Mills.
The incident began when a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation. Rather than pulling over, the motorist fled, sparking a pursuit.
The motorist turned onto a dead-end road and attempted to reverse, colliding with numerous trees and the trooper’s car. He then drove to his home on Brooklyn Circle in Hope Mills, attempted to hide the car in the back, and ran inside.
The driver ultimately surrendered and was arrested. Neither the trooper nor the driver were hurt during the encounter.
The suspect’s car has been seized, and charges are pending.
