A 45-year-old Wisconsin man was detained Thursday evening following a road rage incident in which authorities determined he was inebriated while driving.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said that approximately 6:43 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to a complaint of a person being struck on Highway 45 near Pleasant Valley Road.
Investigations first concluded that the suspect brake-checked a vehicle behind him before coming to a stop in traffic. He reportedly exited the truck, approached the driver’s window, and threatened him.
The other driver, fearing for his own safety, allegedly smacked the suspect in the face and fled. The suspect motorist reportedly continued to drive aggressively until the other vehicle came to a halt on U.S. 45 at Paradise Drive.
Another witness stopped alongside the driver and spoke with deputies as well. Another deputy reportedly stopped the suspect car after detecting symptoms of impairment and the odor of marijuana and other intoxicants.
According to the announcement, the driver denied any involvement but acknowledged to drinking earlier and exhibited signs of intoxication during a field sobriety test. A car search uncovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The individual is currently facing charges of:
- Operating while intoxicated, fourth offense
- Disorderly conduct
- Possession of THC, second and subsequent offense
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Felony parole violation
