Tell me more about yourself first.After being hired at Helena Elementary 21 years ago, I relocated to Helena. Kenlee, my daughter, is nine years old. We both enjoy hanging out with friends and family, eating Mexican food, and going to the beach, lake, or pool.
Could you tell me about your teaching career?
Working with kids has always been a passion of mine. My experience working as a nanny during my undergraduate years led me to change my degree to education. The University of Alabama in Birmingham is where I obtained both my elementary education bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I will start my 22nd year as a kindergarten teacher at Helena Elementary this autumn.
In what ways do your students influence your life as an educator?As a teacher, students have a significant influence on my life. I’m always inspired by their growth, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Every accomplishment they have, no matter how tiny, serves as a reminder to me of why I selected this line of work. They fill my life with so much joy and happiness.and keep me alert every single day!
What is unique about dealing with elementary school pupils?Because of their excitement and passion for learning, primary school pupils are unique to work with. They approach every day with excitement and interest. The classroom is an enjoyable and fulfilling place to be because of their inventiveness and sincere happiness. Being able to influence students’ academic development and confidence at such a significant life moment is immensely fulfilling for teachers.
Throughout your tenure at Helena Elementary, what has been your favorite aspect of your job?
The relationships I’ve formed with the staff and teachers at Helena Elementary are my favorite aspect of my job. the connections I’ve made with the students’ families. Families, employees, and students all support one another in the tight-knit community at Helena Elementary. Everyone is inspired to perform to the best of their abilities in this encouraging environment. Helena Elementary is a very unique environment.
Would you wish to convey a message to the people of Helena?
Being a member of the Helena Elementary family makes me really happy. The generosity, camaraderie, and cooperation that we all share make this group very unique. Together, we establish a secure and motivating environment for our children to develop, learn, and succeed. I’m excited to keep going on this adventure and creating wonderful memories in the process!
