A intoxicated driver was found to be at fault in a multi-vehicle incident over the weekend.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, about 10:51 p.m. on April 19, troopers were notified of a multi-vehicle incident on Lincoln Highway East near the intersection with South Singer Avenue in Paradise Township, Lancaster County.
Following an investigation, investigators discovered that a Hyundai Sonata driven by 34-year-old Douglas Lewis Jr. of New Holland was travelling west on Lincoln Highway East while a Toyota Highlander was travelling east.
At the junction of South Singer Avenue, Lewis Jr. drifted into the eastbound lane and collided with the Toyota Highlander.
According to police, Lewis Jr. was driving with his 3-year-old son in the Toyota Highlander, which was carrying four people, including two passengers aged seven and eight.
EMS transported the passengers of both automobiles to Lancaster General Hospital for assessment. According to police, the 7-year-old passenger in the Toyota Highlander suffered a fractured femur and an orbital floor fracture in their face.
The other car occupants involved in this collision suffered minor injuries.
Troopers eventually discovered that Lewis Jr. was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
On April 20, Douglas Lewis Jr. was charged with Endangering the Welfare of Children (F2), Aggravated Assault by Vehicle while DUI (F2), DUI (M), and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2).
