The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 73-year-old man was murdered Monday night in Orange County after being hit by a car.
According to troopers, the collision occurred about 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Silver Star Road and Powers Drive.
A Nissan Altima was heading east in the inside lane of Silver Star Road, east of Powers Drive, according to a crash report.
Simultaneously, a person was crossing Silver Star Road from the south shoulder heading north.
The pedestrian, who was not in a designated crosswalk, went straight into the path of the Nissan as the driver tried to swerve to prevent an accident, according to troopers.
Consequently, the pedestrian was struck by the Nissan’s front, right side.
The report states that the pedestrian, who was identified as a 73-year-old male from Orlando, was brought to ORMC and declared deceased.
The Nissan’s driver, a 24-year-old woman from Orlando, remained at the scene and was unharmed.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
