On Sunday afternoon, a man lost his life in a motorbike accident in Polk County.

Authorities responded to a motorcycle crash on County Road 38, just north of Highway 2, shortly after 1 p.m., according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

A bystander discovered the collision, and when police arrived, they discovered a motorcyclist lying in a ditch.

According to officials, the biker, Travis Shimpa, 39, was declared dead at the site.

Shimpa was heading north on County Road 38, a dirt road, according to law authorities, when the collision occurred.

The cause of the crash was not disclosed by the authorities.
