Maryland Mother Charged in Death of 3-Year-Old Daughter Following False Amber Alert

Maryland State Police stated Wednesday that a mother was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 3-year-old daughter, who vanished in Newark, Delaware, following a fictitious Amber Alert.

In relation to the death of 3-year-old Nola Dinkins, Darrian Randle, 33, and her boyfriend, Cedrick Antoine Britten, 44, were both prosecuted.

Randle has been charged with first and second degree murder, first degree child abuse that results in the death of a juvenile under the age of 13, and other connected felonies, according to Maryland State Police.

According to Maryland State Police, Britten was accused of failing to report a child death, accessory to first- and second-degree murder, and other offenses.

According to Maryland State Police, during the hunt for Dinkins, detectives discovered human remains in an empty lot in North East, Maryland, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The remains “looked to be of a child,” according to Maryland State Police spokesman Elena Russo, but they are still awaiting identification and the reason and manner of death.

According to Russo, Maryland State Police will probably provide an update on the autopsy of the human remains on Thursday.

According to Russo, Dinkins, Randle, and Britten shared a house in North East, Cecil County.

Before being transported to Cecil County District Court, Britten is still being held by the Maryland State Police.

Additionally, Randle was accused of filing a fraudulent police complaint that resulted in an Amber Alert on Tuesday night in New Castle County, Delaware. After being arraigned, she was released on $1 million cash bond and transferred to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle. According to Russo, Randle is awaiting extradition to Maryland.

Things to know about the investigation into 3-year-old Nola Dinkins

An Amber Alert was issued when Dinkins’ mother reported her missing in New Castle County, Delaware, on Tuesday evening.

Investigators found that Randle’s first account was untrue, New Castle County Police stated on Wednesday.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, New Castle County Police initially reported that a man on the 500 block of Gender Road in Newark, Delaware, kidnapped Dinkins at gunpoint.

According to the initial report, Dinkins’ mother told officers that she had pulled over to help the youngster when a gun-wielding stranger grabbed the child and fled in an SUV.
