Minister O’Brien, who is in charge of charity and community development, encouraged Irish communities to get involved in street feasts.
The Street Feast 2022 will take place on 26th November and is a national day of community lunches.
The initiative is focused on bringing people together by inspiring conversations and fostering connections.
The County supports the festival through funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Minister O’Brien said:
“I am delighted to support Street Feast 2022. Enhancing social inclusion and strengthening communities is at the centre of my Department’s work. Street Feast presents a fantastic occasion for us to focus on the importance our neighbours, to develop new connections and to enhance existing relationships. The public’s response to the impacts of COVID-19 and more recently, to the Ukrainian crisis, has underlined the importance of such connections and I would strongly encourage people to go along and enjoy their local Street Feast.”
Street feasts are taking over all around the country.
