During the grand opening of the newest Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream location, which took place on Friday, dozens of individuals who were looking for a sweet treat lined up in anticipation.
Within the historic Washington Street Boat Landing Pergola, which is located at the southernmost point of the waterfront in Seattle, is where the ice cream shop can be found.
A covered patio is available at the new location, where you can enjoy your ice cream while looking out over the ferries that are making their way across Elliott Bay.
It was stated by Bob Donegan, who is a volunteer for the Seattle Historic Waterfront Association and also serves as the president of the nearby Ivar’s, that the opening of the well-known ice cream chain is a significant benefit for the neighbourhood.
When asked about the news, he stated, “For Molly [Moon’s] to open here is great news because it will bring people down here.”
On the other hand, he added that people who are going to be attending sporting events, as well as people who are going to be taking the ferry or a cruise, will most likely encounter the shop and end up becoming customers.
He stated that there are 45 retail and food businesses located on the central waterfront of Seattle, which is located north of Colman Dock. However, from south of the dock to West Seattle, there is a lack of business establishments.
“We need some more retail activity and anchors on the south end of the waterfront,” Donegan stated.
A construction milestone in Pioneer Square, which is a component of Mayor Bruce Harrell’s plan to link the neighbourhood to the waterfront, was commemorated by Seattle city officials in December.
These improvements include more green spaces, curbless streets, and new pedestrian crossings.

By enhancing walkways and the surrounding area, the Seattle Historic Waterfront Association has also attempted to integrate the waterfront with the Pioneer Square neighbourhood.
“This is just terrific news for the waterfront,” Donegan stated. “Plus, it’s ice cream. We always need ice cream.”
According to Molly Moon’s earlier statement, the store employed an architectural firm to make sure the layout “retains and accentuates the Pergola’s original beauty.”
The waterfront location is the tenth Molly Moon location in western Washington and the seventh in Seattle.
