After discovering a convicted child molester allegedly attempting to rape her 12-year-old daughter inside a motel room in Indianapolis on Saturday, the mother reportedly fired and injured him.
Prior to the gunfight at the Baymont Inn, the mother allegedly walked in on Bruce Pierce of Indianapolis on top of her child after the preteen repeatedly refused, according to court filings.
According to the records, the grandmother of the young victim told police that Pierce had been attempting to get her to leave town with him by speaking with the 12-year-old both over the phone and online.
When their mother failed to return home on the day of the shooting, the victim and her sister woke up their grandmother.
When they arrived at the inn, they discovered Pierce and the mother in the lobby.
According to the docs, the adolescent wasn’t feeling well at one time, so the mother and sister carried things to the car while the girl was left alone in the room with Pierce.
According to the records, before the mother rushed in, Pierce allegedly used the occasion to lock her arms to the bed and begin tearing parts of her clothing.
According to the documents, the mother fired fire on Pierce, who also apparently had a gun in his hand, but the child victim managed to escape.
The mother and daughter phoned the police and drove away from the motel with their other family members.

According to the station, Pierce is not yet in arrest after being sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is being charged with unauthorized firearm possession, attempted child molestation, attempted rape, and imprisonment.
An arrest warrant was issued for him. According to the sites, he entered a guilty plea to previous allegations of child abuse in 2016.
Because the victim was reportedly struck by the suspect’s gun, she also received treatment at a children’s hospital.
Why Pierce and the mother were in the hotel lobby prior to the shooting is unknown.
