Motorcycle catches Fire after Fatal Crash on I-66 in Fairfax County; was going 100 mph Reports

According to Virginia State Police (VSP), a motorcyclist died early Sunday morning after being involved in a high-speed incident on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County.

At 12:09 a.m., State Police troopers observed a motorcycle traveling at 100 mph on I-66 westbound near Nutley Street.

A VSP trooper attempted to conduct a traffic check, but the biker apparently sped away. This prompted a police pursuit.

However, the officer eventually slowed down for safety, bringing the pursuit to an end.

The trooper then came across an accident in which the same biker collided with an SUV on the rear passenger side. After the crash, the motorcycle caught fire.

Fire and rescue workers worked alongside the trooper to extinguish the flames.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The motorcyclist died on the site.

The motorcyclist’s name has yet to be determined, and the collision is still being investigated.
