The California Highway Patrol reports that a head-on collision between the Harley Davidson motorbike they were riding on and a Honda sedan resulted in the death of a 45-year-old Anderson man and the serious injuries of a 41-year-old Palo Cedro woman.
On Monday, the event began at approximately 2:35 p.m. Pamela Sutton, 50, of Whitmore, was driving a black 2004 Civic west on Whitmore Road. According to a news release from CHP spokesperson Jason Morton, she drove between 55 and 60 mph.
According to the CHP, Sutton’s car veered into the left oncoming (eastbound) lane near the Cow Creek Ranch in Millville, colliding with the black Harley. When the collision occurred, the Anderson man’s motorcycle was traveling at around the same speed as Sutton’s car.
According to the CHP, the man and his companion were flung off the motorcycle and fell into Whitmore Road’s shoulder.
While the “seriously injured” woman was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, first responders reported that the male passed away at the scene of the collision.
According to the CHP, Sutton also complained soreness following the collision.
According to the CHP, neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing. Until his family is informed, the CHP is not disclosing the deceased man’s name.
Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged by the CHP to contact 530-225-0500.
