Social media users may have been shocked and saddened to learn over the past few days that Najee Harrishad, a running back for the Los Angeles Chargers, lost an eye with fireworks. More precisely, the optic nerve was severely damaged by the fireworks’ discharge, causing Harrishad to become partially blind.
As a result of the letters’ persistence, the former Alabama All-American agent issued a statement on Thursday.
According to Doug Hendrickson, Najee Harris was at a Fourth of July celebration when a fireworks accident injured other guests. Despite suffering a minor eye damage in the incident, Najee is projected to be fully recovered for the NFL season.
According to the (San Jose) Mercury News, Harris was hurt in an accident in Antioch, California, on Thursday. According to the Mercury News, Harris sought care at two hospitals.
A news release regarding the incident was released by the Antioch Police Department:
The Antioch Police Department dispatch center got many calls of an explosion on the 2200 block of Spanos Street on July 5 at around 12:18 a.m. Officers found the aftermath of a fireworks-induced explosion when they got on the site.
ConFire, AMR, and Antioch Police Department officers triaged the individuals and offered medical assistance. Before the first responders arrived, a number of casualties had already left the area and were receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. The Antioch Police Department is searching for and contacting everyone connected to this incident.
Our condolences are with the family and everyone impacted by this tragic accident during this trying time. While the inquiry is ongoing, we beg for the families’ patience and privacy.
The investigation was taken over by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators from the Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau. There won’t be any further information disclosed at this time because the inquiry is still ongoing. The Investigations Bureau will supply any more press releases or information.

Harris is getting ready for his Los Angeles debut.After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Harris signed a one-year, fully guaranteed $5.25 million contract with the Chargers in free agency.
As the 24th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Najee Harris joined the Steelers from Alabama’s undefeated CFP national-championship team for the 2020 season. He ran for at least 1,000 yards each season, rose to sixth on the team’s career list in rushing yards, and became the 10th player in NFL history to record at least 4,300 rushing yards and 180 receptions in his first four years.
On Saturday, Chargers rookies will report to training camp, while veterans will arrive on Wednesday.
