On Sunday, a Brooklyn father was pulled by his family to compete in a look-alike competition for actor Pedro Pascal, and he won.
At the Son Del North Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side, George Gountas won $50 and a year’s worth of burritos for being the closest ringer of Pascal, the star of shows including “Star Wars” spin-off “The Mandalorian” and “Game of Thrones.”
When people noticed that her husband looked like the 50-year-old Chilean-born actor who played bounty hunter Din Djarin in “The Mandalorian,” Gountas’ wife Jenny Gania stated, “It started when the ‘Game of Thrones’ came out the first time — that’s when we first heard it.”
Then several children began to make notes about it as well, so I thought, ‘It’s Father’s Day,’ when we saw this [contest]. You must leave. Gania claimed to have told her husband, “It’s going to be your Father’s Day treat.” He doesn’t use social media at all, which makes it amusing. However, he will suddenly be everywhere.
For the title, Gountas of Greenpoint defeated around thirty other contenders.
“I’m, ‘So sorry, but there’s no Mexican, good Mexican food in New York?’ ” Garcia stated. “And we were like, ‘There is, and we are here.’ “

Wim Shih, a co-owner, stated that the contest’s main goal was to make people smile amid difficult times.
“There’s just so much sadness in the world right now, and we wanted to be a bit of sunshine today amidst all that,” Shih stated.
One of the aspiring princesses who attended the competition was wearing a t-shirt that said, “Protect the Dolls and all Immigrants”—a reference to the catchphrase “Protect the Dolls,” which the actor popularized to advocate for his transgender sister Lux Pascal.

Pascal has received widespread praise for his performances, which also include Joel Miller in “The Last of Us” and Oberyn Martell in the popular television series “Game of Thrones.”
Since a Timothee Chalamet competition in October in Washington Square Park, the event on Sunday is the most recent celebrity look-alike competition to take place in the five boroughs. The actor himself will be there.
