The planned news conference on the one-year anniversary of the January 6 event at the US Capitol has been canceled by former US President Donald Trump. President Trump blames the postponement on the House select committee charged with investigating the January 6 incident, saying he’ll instead talk about many of these topics during a rally in Arizona tomorrow. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will visit the US Capitol Thursday to mark this year’s anniversary of last year’s riot. They’ll have a few words to say at the US capitol for this year’s commemoration for January 6th.
Several Republicans fear that Trump’s alleged “false claim of fraud” during the 2020 presidential election will diminish Republican voters’ trust in elections, and cause them to distrust candidates in upcoming midterm elections. Furthermore, they worry that this could take up space on Trump’s part at Thursday’s press conference, making it a rehash of the 2016 election.
