Great news for fans of Outer Banks as the series season 3 was confirmed back in December 2021. So right now, all we have to do is wait for it to drop on our screens.

Another great news is that there’s a possibility for Outer Banks to run for four or five seasons.
Show creator Jonas Pate recently talked about envisaging Outer Banks producing seasons four or five, but whether or not the intended tale gets illustrated solely depends upon Netflix’s decision to green-light the series once again.
“Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons,” Pate said to Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I’m just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.”
Has filming wrapped for Season 3 of Outer Banks?
In February 2022, the giant streamer teased a first peek at the group which included cast members– Madelyn Cline, Chase Stokes, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathon Daviss, Carlacia Grant, and Drew Starkey in Charleston, South Carolina as filming for the third series began.
The Instagram post caption reads: “don’t call, don’t text. no service in poguelandia. OBX 3 is BACK IN PRODUCTION.”
Release Date for Season 3 of Outer Banks
Taking into consideration the eight months that production takes, we can expect the new season to be out towards the end of 2022 or in early 2023.

Season 3 Outer Banks Expected Plot
We’d expect season 3 to pick up from where the previous season left off. It looks like viewers may be in for that particular time after all, at least if showmaker Josh Pate obtains his direction
Pate in a chat with Entertainment Weekly revealed: “John B’s relationship with his dad is a huge theme. Having his dad back around and eventually they’re going to meet back up and John B has to reconcile his idealised version of his dead dad with the reality of his alive dad,” he added. “It gives us a lot of thematic father-son stuff to work with.”
Writer Shannon Burke explained: “It’s going to be instrumental and maybe the spine [of season three] basically. It’s obviously a gigantic revelation that’s going to power a huge part of the third season.”
Star Chase Stokes also revealed to TV Line that he is “hoping to continue to tell the story for a couple more seasons”, he pondered: “It wasn’t like he [Big John] was swept away by a natural disaster or whatever the case may be. It was his choice to go out and leave his son, and what does that look like? What does it look like when a kid comes face-to-face with a parent who’s left and chose to put him in these circumstances and has no idea what has happened in the meantime?”
