Pedestrian struck and killed by car that crashed and Rolled Over in Newark

A 48-year-old man died after being struck by a car outside Christiana High School in Newark at 2:51 p.m. on Monday.

According to Delaware State Police, the guy was in the right shoulder of the northbound lane on Salem Church Road, south of Chapman Road, when he was hit by a 2015 Nissan Altima that swerved off the right side of the road.

The truck then entered a grassy area and collided with a tree, forcing it to flip over.

Police have not named the driver, an 18-year-old guy from Bear, Delaware, who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The street was closed for around 3 hours while police investigated the crash.

The cause of the crash is being investigated, and police have yet to announce the identity of the Newark man deceased while contacting his family and relations.

The Delaware State Police are still investigating this incident and have asked anyone with information to call 302-365-8485.
