Phoebe Bridgers, a 23-year-old singer and songwriter who rose to fame after appearing on the MTV reality show, has decided to share her story about how she found out she was pregnant with her partner. After considering her options, Phoebe opted for a safe but often stigmatized medical procedure that would remove the pregnancy.
In the aftermath of a leaked draught opinion stating the Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade, the Grammy-nominated musician made the announcement.
It’s no secret that abortions can be a touchy subject. But in a new interview, Phoebe Bridgers is opening up about her experience with the procedure — and why she believes everyone should have access to it.
Phoebe Bridgers, a Grammy nominee, said she had an abortion last year while on tour, emphasising the necessity of access to her social media followers in light of Monday’s bombshell revelation that suggested the Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade.
Schumer posted photographs from a demonstration in New York to Instagram.
“While on tour in October of last year, I had an abortion. I went to a clinic called Planned Parenthood and was given the abortion pill “Tuesday, the 27-year-old artist tweeted and posted to her Instagram story.
“It was simple. That type of access is something that everyone deserves “She went on to share links to groups that assist in the provision of abortions in states where access is restricted.
After Politico released the leaked Supreme Court draught ruling on Monday, the star opened out.
According to the draught, which was apparently prepared by Justice Samuel Alito and dated February, at least five justices support Mississippi in a current case challenging a 1973 rule that has protected abortion as a constitutional right for over 50 years. The Supreme Court eventually confirmed the authenticity of the document, emphasising that it was not a final ruling.
The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has spawned a barrage of legislative retaliation, sparked rallies outside the court and around the country, and prompted celebrities like Amy Schumer and Whoopi Goldberg to speak out.
Bridgers’ decision to open up about her experience with abortion is a powerful one — and one that could help destigmatize the procedure for other women. Bridgers is just one of many women who have had abortions, and her story highlights the importance of access to safe and legal abortions. Every woman deserves the right to make her own decisions about her body, and no one should be denied that right.
