On Wednesday, a trio of black bears were observed having fun on a swing and slide set in Connecticut.
The two animals can be seen on camera transitioning from the plastic green slide to a swing, where they start roughhousing.
Then a third bear joins in on the action, emerging from behind a nearby tree.
“Love to wake up to 3 bears playing on our swing set- and destroying our garbage,” said Tim Beloin, who shared the video of the bears online.
As the black bear population has recovered, sightings of the bears have increased in Connecticut’s residential neighbourhoods.
“As the population expands, interactions between humans and bears will increase,” said the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). “People should learn what to do if they see a bear and how to avoid unnecessary conflicts by keeping food away from bears.”
The DEEP advises the following actions if you spot a bear:
- Keep a distance from the animal.
- Alert the bear of your presence, you can either wave your arms and shout or gently move away.
- Bears should never be fed or attracted.
- Inform the Wildlife Division of any bears you come across.
