According to authorities, a woman in Kentucky had an accomplice shoot a stranger at a Wendy’s restaurant after he got into a confrontation with her over her dog running loose.
Following an investigation into the January shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department posted on Facebook that 23-year-old Carrington Bagwell was taken into custody on Monday.
Her charges were changed from second-degree complicity assault to first-degree assault during her arraignment on Tuesday.
According to police, Bagwell gave 41-year-old Gary Ross, who was taken into custody on May 6, instructions to go with her to a Wendy’s in Louisville on January 4 and shoot a stranger she had just gotten into a fight with over her dog.
When Louisville police arrived at the scene of the incident that afternoon, they discovered that the man, who was reportedly in his 20s, had been wounded in the arm and buttocks. He was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, which were not life-threatening. He was supposed to get well.
According to police arrest documents, surveillance footage and witness interviews were used to identify Bagwell and her accomplice.
According to Louisville police, the accused victim was shot, reportedly by Ross, after a verbal disagreement turned violent in the Wendy’s parking lot with another male. According to the police, the suspect left the site before they could arrive.

According to court filings, Bagwell and the claimed victim got into a heated dispute earlier that day, which started the conflict. According to the documents, Bagwell and the alleged victim got into a verbal altercation as she attempted to reclaim custody of her dog after it escaped.
After returning home, Bagwell told her co-defendant Ross about the altercation. The two then went back to Wendy’s together, purportedly to confront the other man about the altercation.
According to their coverage of the documents, Bagwell allegedly urged Ross to shoot the man.
After posting a portion of her $50,000 bail, Bagwell was allowed to leave the jail. On June 10, she is scheduled to return to court.
Ross was accused of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon and first-degree assault. There was no stated release date for him.
