Police: Man Kills Girlfriend, Her 10-Year-Old Daughter, Then Himself in NJ Home

According to authorities, a man in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, shot his girlfriend and her 10-year-old daughter before taking his own life on Thursday.

When police arrived at the residence on the 200 block of Henry Street in Hamilton Township at around 4 a.m. on Thursday, they discovered a lady and her 10-year-old daughter with gunshot wounds, according to Mercer County law enforcement officials.

The two were declared dead at the spot, according to the police.

Additionally, authorities reported that the woman’s boyfriend was discovered dead in the house from what they believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the police, the boyfriend killed the woman and her child before shooting himself.

Although the identities of the victims have not been made public by the authorities, a guy claiming to be the young girl’s father revealed that his daughter’s name was Evangelina.

“I will never forget one day I had a daughter,” Bladimir Velasquez stated. “I can’t describe it. Unexpected. Not ready to conquer the world. I usually am. But believe in God. So, God’s going to provide and help us.”

According to Velasquez, Evangelina had spent a few years living in the house on Henry Street with her mother. Additionally, he stated that Evangelina’s mother had a child with her lover after dating him for at least a year.

“I was told that the boyfriend was a little bit jealous but nothing, never to my attention,” Velasquez stated. “I wasn’t interfering.”

Velasquez is remembering his daughter as a girl who influenced many lives in her brief life while he deals with the tragedy.

“She was always strong. Strong. Positive. Thinking about somebody else to help somebody else,” he stated. “First thing that surprised me a long time ago was that if she saw anybody in the street, she would put her window down to help them. So, I was surprised for her to have that instinct.”

The event is still being looked into by Hamilton Police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.
