New York – 19 Jan 2021 – Ever since New Jersey arrived in the NHL, they have had several fantastic battles with the New York rangers. Although both the teams have been down for a while, they’ve been constantly preparing for the future. Regardless of the beef between the two teams, the matches have always excited the audience. In this season, three matches are scheduled between both teams and the season can go either way for both sides. There’s also a bunch of young talent in both the teams in the form of goalies. For New York, it’s Igor Shesterkin and for New Jersey, it’s Mackensie blackwood.
However, after the splendid performance of Alexander Georgiev in this weekend’s match with the New York Islanders, the rangers have planned to launch him against the devils. It’s certainly a big match for blackwood as he strives to keep his amazing performance on a roll. After the Devils won the NHL draft lottery in 2019, there was a rivalry built between the top two selections of both the teams naturally. While New York selected Kaapo Kakko, New Jersey preferred to proceed with Jack Hughes. They both shared the elite NHL player position but according to the statistics, Hughes shows a better performance than Kakko.
In this season you won’t see Nico Hischier at the back in the line-up. Moreover, the audience is still waiting for Sami Vatanen and Jesper Bratt to reach New Jersey and clear their covid-19 protocols. This is also the first time when the number one overall pick will be playing in the Hudson River rivalry. when each of these teams is in contention, the NHL is certainly a better place.
It’s not predictable whether either of these teams is a play-off but the chances are significantly low for the same. Both the teams have something to prove. On a side note, New Jersey’s game has been quite defensive this year. They have been known as an up-tempo team but this year hasn’t resulted in many goals. Talking about the power play, no other team can kill the penalties in the way Boston Bruins do.
