Santa Rosa motorcyclist clocked at 120+ MPH, bike impounded by CHP

A motorcyclist was apprehended for speeding over 120 mph on Highway 101 near Santa Rosa on Monday, marking the second time in roughly a month that the individual’s motorcycle has been impounded, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On May 1, a man was reportedly pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer for driving at 91 mph on Highway 101.

“The rider was issued a citation for riding 90-plus mph on the freeway and it was determined he did not have a valid motorcycle endorsement for his driver’s license,” CHP said. “Subsequently, the motorcycle was impounded.”

On the morning of June 2, the CHP officer who previously stopped the rider on May 1 reportedly recorded him going over 120 mph on Highway 101. The CHP intervened once more, leading to the towing of the man’s motorcycle.

“The number of motorcycle-involved fatal and injury crashes have been on the rise here in Sonoma County,” CHP said. “There is absolutely no reason to ride that fast!”
